Cemetery Services will be at 12:00 noon at Black Hills National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Rushmore VFW Post #1273 and United States Navy Honor Team.
Steven Taylor Wallis, 71, passed away January 8, 2024, at his residence. Steve was born November 22, 1952, in
Salt Lake City, Utah to Robert Summers Wallis and Pauline Ray (Taylor) Smith.
He was drafted by the US Armed Forces and was in the Navy for 6 years serving on ships in the Mediterranean Sea.
In 1989 he married Leslee Best at the previous Best family ranch barn. They had two beautiful daughters; Elizabeth Frances and Taylor Rae, who were the biggest joy in his life! Steve enjoyed seeing the girls show their horses and going on family camping trips with friends. Steve loved working on old cars and he was on a bowling league for many years. He was blessed with three grandsons; Soren, Enoch and Jensen; and he enjoyed attending some of their T-ball and baseball games.
Survivors include his wife Leslee, daughters Elizabeth (Andrew) Franz, Taylor (Derek Dowdy) Wallis, his 3 grandsons; sisters Susan (John) Schwandt, Linda (Brent) Haynes, Lorie (Rick) Jacobson, Kathy (Dave) Maher; uncle Dennis (Beverly) Smith, aunt Beverly Smith, uncle David (Evelyn) Taylor, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother Pauline Smith, father Robert Wallis, step-father Roger Smith, one brother Bob, sister Pat and best friend Gary.
Visitation will be at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home at 9-10 AM on Tuesday, January 16, 2023, with the service following at 10:00 AM.

A luncheon will be served for all family and friends at the Rapid City Masonic Center, 618 Kansas City Street at 1:00 PM.
