Steven R. Wood
Fair Haven- Steven R. Wood, 65, passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2024, in the comfort of his home, with his wife by his side. Steven was born October 17, 1959, in Rutland, Vt, the son of Wynn and Virginia (Bigelow) Wood.
He grew up in Fair Haven and graduated from FHUHS in 1977.
Steven worked for Maine Drilling and Blasting from 1983 until 1994. In 1995, he established his own business, Wood Drilling and Blasting. He was well known for his professional work in many local quarries along with many site jobs, with his son Mathew by his side.
Steven married the love of his life, Kelly Buck Wood, on May 22, 1999. Together they had a passion for travel, especially during the winter months, visiting many of the Caribbean Islands. With Aruba winning their hearts, they would spend several weeks each year enjoying Aruba's warmth, sun and beautiful beaches. You could perhaps see them enjoying a nice cold chill beer or a frozen drink from the beach bar, while sitting on the beach. His hobbies included bowling, hunting, and sponsoring some of his favorite dirt track drivers.
Steven is survived by his devoted, loving and caring wife, Kelly, with whom he shared 33 wonderful years, He also leaves behind his beloved son Mathew (Matt) and his fur baby, Mittens, a sister Sharon (Wood)Parker (Alan) of Middletown Springs, many nieces and nephews, a great niece and great nephews, also by his in laws, mother, father, sisters, brothers and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grand puppy Chip only 4 days prior to his passing.
A celebration of Steven's life will be held at the Fair Haven American Legion on November 14, 2024, from 1-4 PM.
Arrangements are with the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
