Stuart Alyn Martin
July 27, 1942 – January 16, 2025
Stuart Alyn Martin, 82, of Cedar Park, TX passed away on January 16, 2025, surrounded by friends & loved ones. A devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Stuart's life was defined by his passion for technology, service to his country, and a deep connection to those who knew him.
Stuart was born on July 27, 1942, in Forest Hills, NY, and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969. Stationed overseas in Germany and also Morocco, he worked in communications, a role that ignited his lifelong fascination with radio, computers, and technology. His time in the Navy laid the foundation for what would become a decades-long career in network development. Stuart's expertise in building and maintaining communication systems helped shape the networks we rely on today. In November of 1969, he married Molly Schwartz and started a life together in Plainview NY, welcoming their only child Amanda.
Stuart was also known for his love of computers, and he built a career that spanned several decades in network development, leaving a legacy in the field of technology. He was also an avid amateur radio operator, Stuart held the call sign K2QDE for over 50 years, making countless connections with fellow enthusiasts around the world. His passion for radio was more than a hobby-it was a lifelong pursuit that allowed him to connect with people, share knowledge, and foster lasting friendships.
Upon the untimely passing of Molly in 2007, Stuart retired. In 2010, he remarried Barbara Tabor and moved to the Austin area. He spent his later years enjoying the weather and the good company of neighbors and his neighborhood in Cedar Park, Texas, continuing his amateur radio communications, and volunteering with Heroes Night Out.
Stuart is survived by his daughter, Amanda, and his beloved granddaughters, Mae and Leni; his sister, Vicky Meltzer, and brother-in-law Bob; and his nieces, Jill and Melissa. Stuart is predeceased by both his parents Ralph and Alice, his wife Molly (2007), and his second wife Barbara (2019)
Stuart was a cherished friend to many, and he leaves behind a wide circle of friends who were like family to him. Stuart's gentle nature, sharp mind, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He had an incredible ability to connect with people, and his legacy of curiosity, dedication, and love will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
A private memorial service will be held for family and friends, along with a celebration of Stuart's life to be announced at a later date.
