Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brater-Winter Funeral Home (Sayler Park) on Nov. 5, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sue Ann Borcherding (nee Jordan), who left us on March 24, 2025. Born on March 29, 1947, to her parents Paul and Jeanette Jordan (nee Kuennen) in
Cincinnati, Ohio. Sue was a simple yet remarkable woman whose life was defined by her unwavering love for her family and her skilled service to others.
Sue's love for her family was unconditional and strong-almost fierce, like a mother bear. She took great joy in being a mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, and she loved watching them play and laugh together. Sue was not one to show it, but she was immensely proud of her grandchildren.
An introvert, Sue was comfortable being alone and was content with a small circle that included her family and a few select friends at work. There was no one more loyal than Sue to this close circle of family and friends. She also had a special bond with her dog, Jordan, a King Charles Spaniel, who was a beloved companion in Sue's life.
Sue dedicated much of her life caring for patients as a nurse at St. Francis-St. George Hospital and later Mercy Hospital. She could be stern when her patients' behavior warranted it, but more often they experienced her caring heart and unmatched skill.
Sue was an exacting person with high standards. At Christmas, her buckeyes and Christmas cookies were both delicious and perfectly shaped. Her house was immaculate, and she trained three sons and an ex-husband to be world-class bathroom cleaners.
The same precision that made Sue an extraordinary nurse and baker enabled her to produce beautiful crafts. From hand-woven baskets, to cozy afghans, to delicate cross-stitch designs, Sue's crafts were flawless.
Sue was incredibly bright and sharp. She was a top student in her nursing class at Christ Hospital. Before Alzheimer's took its toll, Sue's mind was a steel trap. She had no use for to-do lists; she remembered everything she needed to do (and everything those around her needed to do, too).
Those left to cherish Sue's memory are her children: Scott (Amy) Borcherding, Jeff (Erin) Borcherding, Brian (Amy) Borcherding, and Kimberly Borcherding; her grandchildren: Sydney and Kaitlyn Borcherding, Jack, Mia, and Ryan Borcherding, Claudia and Ross Borcherding, and Matt, Owen, Emily, and Olivia Borcherding; and her siblings: Barb (Mike) Rehn and Linda Jordan; as well as her nieces Missy (Chris) Stamper and Amy (Dan) Crowley.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents.
