Sue Cliche, dedicated mother, loving wife, and devout Christian, entered the kingdom of heaven, on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Having resided at the Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, NH, she succumbed to complications with Alzheimer's and is now at peace. Born in 1943 in Providence, RI, Sue's unwavering faith guided her life, her marriage, and her approach to motherhood.
Raised in Lancaster, she was one of seven children of Clinton and Grace White, Sue, along with her many brothers and sisters, were the topic of interest for many readers in her mom's newspaper column, "The Woman in the Shoe." Like most Lancaster youngsters, Sue could often be found at the Colonel Town pool. Swimming was one of Sue's favorite activities, she loved diving, participating on the swim team, eventually becoming a lifeguard.
She attended Lancaster Union School District through the eighth grade, then ventured off to St. Anne's School in Arlington Heights, MA, graduating in 1961. While in high school she was a class secretary, a member of the National Thespian Society, participated in basketball, and at the age of 16 she won one of the highest awards given for an international shorthand competition! Sue continued to use shorthand in several of her secretarial jobs that she worked at over the years.
Her greatest joy was being a mother to her 4 children, a grandmother of 10, and great-grandmother of 5. Sue instilled her strong values and Christian beliefs in her family. She led by example, teaching Sunday School, hosting Bible Studies, and leading a Women's group. Sue was a prayer warrior, praying for healings, thanking God for his goodness, and most importantly praying that all would know the love of Jesus Christ.
Sue is survived by her husband of 64 years, Valmoore Cliche; her children Bryce (Jean), Vicki (Rick), Tim (Beth) and Debbie; her siblings, John (Linda), Nancy, Ann, and Jane; cousin Bill (Vicky); her grandchildren, great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will have a graveside service at the Summer Street Cemetery, in Lancaster, this summer to celebrate her life.
