Sue Gorslene, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, left this world on December 12, 2025, at the age of 78, in Galloway, Ohio. Born on January 4, 1947, in Columbus, she was raised in a family that instilled in her the values of love, kindness, and community. Sue was a proud graduate of West High School, class of 1965, where her journey of nurturing and inspiring others began.
Throughout her life, Sue dedicated herself to the field of education, notably working for Columbus Public Schools. She devoted many years to supporting the needs of children in special needs preschool programs and impacting the lives of students at John Burroughs and Columbus West High School. Her warmth and dedication to her career were evident to all who crossed her path. This commitment was matched only by her fervent desire to see the best in everyone, making her the wonderful person that so many have cherished.
Sue's adventurous spirit shone through in her hobbies and interests. A true sports aficionado, she faithfully cheered for The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. Her love for travel took her to wonderful places, including the Caribbean, Belize, and Hawaii, where cherished memories were created. No gathering was complete without Sue, as she never missed a family event—her heart always drew her close to her loved ones. She had a special tradition of reading "Humphrey's First Christmas" to church children on Christmas Eve, a testament to her generous spirit and love for sharing joy with others.
She is remembered not only for her devotion to her family but also for her religious faith, which guided her every action. Sue wanted everyone to see Jesus in her, reflecting the love and care she held for everyone she met. A kind soul who never met a stranger, her ability to connect with people was a hallmark of her character.
Sue was married to her beloved husband, Tink, for 58 years. Their love story is one of devotion and partnership, a reflection of their commitment to one another and the life they built together. Sue is survived by her sons Tom, Pat, Terry (Angela), and Scott (Jen), who carry forward her legacy of love and strength. She also takes pride in her grandsons, Chase (Bailey), Stephen (Jessica), and Scottie (Rachel), who were a constant source of joy in her life.
In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind her siblings, Cathy Scarberry, Carla Phillips, and Tom Serwan, who have shared countless memories and experiences with her throughout the years.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Belva (Johnson) Stilwell, and her brothers, Jim, David, and Friday Stilwell. Each of them played significant roles in her early life, shaping the remarkable person she became.
A visitation to celebrate Sue's life will be held on December 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Grove City, Ohio. A Funeral Service will follow the next day, December 19, at 10:00 AM, allowing family and friends to come together to honor a woman who loved deeply and lived her life fully.
As we remember Sue Gorslene, we reflect on a life lived with earnestness, compassion, and an unwavering love for family. She will forever be in our hearts, cherished as a symbol of kindness and an inspiration to all who knew her.
