Sue Gunderman-Mickatavage Obituary

Sue Ann Gunderman-Mickatavage, 72, of St. Joseph passed away Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, at Spectrum Health Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph, from heart disease and lung cancer complications.

Sue was born May 28, 1949, in Ft. Wayne, Ind., a daughter of the late Stewart and Esther Rae Gunderman.

Raised in Paulding, Ohio, she was a graduate of Paulding High School, Class of 1967, third in class, and in 1969 from Porter Business College, Indianapolis.

In 1978, she married Bruce Mickatavage, her husband of 43 years.

Sue was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples.

Sue was employed at the Modern Finance Company in Defiance, Ohio. In 1975, she relocated to the Columbus, Ohio, office, working until the birth of her son, Justin, in 1981.

Sue's love of history translated into active involvement in various genealogy and historical societies in Ohio and Michigan, including Find A Grave, First Families of Paulding County, and The Paulding County Genealogical Society.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Mickatavage of St. Joseph; a son, Justin (Eliza); a grandson, Adler of Chicago; her sister, Linda McDonald; nieces, Amanda Mellott and Colleen McDonald of Columbus, Ohio; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be Sept. 3 at The Huntington Chapel, Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio. Viewing will be at 12:30 p.m., with the service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ken Slenkovich officiating. Following the service, a reception will be at the 4th Ave. Christian Church 296 W. Neil, Columbus, Ohio.
