Sue McAdams Jackson, 73, passed away at Wayne UNC Health Care on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Born in Gordon, Georgia on October 2, 1952, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas McAdams and Margaret Martin McAdams.
In addition to her parents, Sue is preceded in death by her brother, Buddy Jones; sister, Gloria Hurley; mother-in-law, Peggy Jackson; and nephews, Bryan Jackson and Gary Rance Hurley, Jr.
Sue is survived by her loving husband, Mark Jackson; sister, Naomi McAdams Smith and husband, Albert; brother, Sonny Jones; nieces and nephews, Michelle West and husband, Randy, Neil Smith, Anitra Holmes and wife, Donna, Tonya Smith and husband, Robert, Lisa Jurtado, Ranee Hurley, Serena Jackson, Alyssa Jackson, Jennifer Robinson and husband, Daniel, Crystal Williams and husband, Chris, and Tommy Richardson; sister-in-law Marisa Jackson; and brother in laws Kevin Jackson and Michael Jackson. Sue is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews as well as great-great-nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Sue was a talented floral designer whose artistic touch could bring beauty to any space. Whether she was crafting the perfect bouquet, painting, decorating cakes, or dreaming up her next handmade project, Sue had a gift for turning simple things into something extraordinary.
For many years, Sue also owned and operated a local tanning salon, where she greeted everyone with her trademark smile and warm heart. Her work ethic, kindness, and genuine care for her customers made her a beloved part of the community.
Sue's greatest joy in life, though, was her family. She loved them fiercely and unconditionally - always putting them first in all that she did. Her nieces and nephews will forever remember her special grin, one that spoke volumes of her love and pride in them.
Sue leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and generosity. Her laughter, her strength, and her ability to make every day a little brighter will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Sue's life will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 10 a.m. at the home of her sister, Naomi Smith, at 308 Woodside Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 in memory of Sue.
