Suella Clark Obituary

Suella Benge Clark
November 21, 1937 - January 5, 2026
A phenomenal woman, Suella Benge Clark, passed away on January 5, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Borger, Texas to Mary Sue Reynolds and Robert Kenney Benge.
She was not just an incredible mother, sister, grandmother (Oma) and friend, but a lecturer, educator, professor and counselor.
She was a public school teacher for 49 years. She taught in Texas, Oklahoma, Germany, Bahrain, South Korea and Japan. Most of her career she taught English and AP English and she also supervised numerous student teachers. She moved to San Antonio after she retired from the Department of Defense Dependent Schools. There she became an Adjunct Professor at UTSA where she taught and mentored future teachers. She was a lifelong educator whose legacy will live on because of all the lives she touched during her time on this earth. But more than anything, she taught students to be kind, to think, to be respectful and responsible.
She was a great appreciator of music of all kinds. She played the clarinet and the piano. One of her greatest joys was hearing her daughter, Laurie, sing.
As a world traveler she saw the beauty in the world and humanity and loved experiencing different cultures and meeting people from all over the world. She loved to tell stories of her adventures and showing off her collections from her travels.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Diane Benge Dunn, her son Mark Ernest Clark and her ex-husband Ernest Harold Clark. She is survived by her two daughters, Suanne Pyle (Ralph) and Laurie Clark, two granddaughters, Caitlin Pyle Pienaar (Juan) and Cassie Clark Perkins, two great granddaughters, Amy Clark and Lily Clark-Perkins, her sister Sharon Benge Kletzien (Damon) and her best friend Ann Hetherman.
A service will be announced at a later time. If you would like to make a donation in her name, these are some of the organizations she supported. Alzheimer's Association, Habitat for Humanity, Planned Parenthood, San Antonio Meals on Wheels, San Antonio Oasis, Hospice Foundation of America
