Suellen Smith Rumple, 88, of Neshanic, NJ, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Sunday, November 9th, 2025.

Sue was born on December 16th, 1936 to Paul and Vivian Smith in Indiana. She is predeceased by her husband Donald, her parents, her stepmother, Mary Smith, and by her sister, Patsy (Smith) Rider (Verrill Rider), and her brother Robert Wenger (Freida Wenger).

During college in Indiana, Susie met her husband, Donald Rumple, on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. They married in 1960 and moved to Neshanic, NJ to be near Don’s family after their graduations. Sue and Don went on to raise four daughters, Rebecca, Jennifer, Kathleen and Donna.

Sue was a beloved caretaker both at work and at home. She was very active in various church groups and running home and school activities while she worked on and off as a nurse. Sue later became a head nurse at Carrier Clinic in Belle Mead, NJ. After retirement, she enjoyed buying and selling antiques with her best friend Pat. She also redecorated her second home with Don in Clover Hill, NJ.

Sue loved to decorate for each holiday, especially Christmas, where she is known for her collection of Santa Claus figurines in her home. Crafting, crocheting, and gardening were some of her favorite hobbies. Sue also loved learning about history and reading as many books as she could. One of her favorite activities was sitting on her porch, watching the hummingbirds enjoy her flowers with “her” mountains in the background. Sue and Don’s home was always filled with love, children’s laughter, dogs and homemade apple pie.

Suellen is survived by her brother-in-law, Barry Rumple, and sister-in-law, DJ Rumple. Her daughters: Rebecca (Michael) Kwiatek, Jennifer Ziolko, Kathleen (Michael) Ajamian, Donna (Mitch) Wegner, and her dear friend, Rosalie Stainer.

Susie’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss her greatly. They are: Koryn, Kevin, Reid and Sydney Palumbo, Joe, Helen Ahn and Yuna Kwiatek, Kayla, Brian, Jude, Scottie, and Baby B Page, Jon, Vicki, Riley, Jon Jr., and Cooper Ajamian, Hannah Kwiatek and Mike Minni, Daniel, Sydney and Amelia Ajamian, and Steven (Kaitlyn) Ajamian, and Zachary, Alexis and Leah Wegner.

Aunt Susie will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Debbie East, Charles and Catherine (Wenger), Craig, Brian, Noah and Eli (Rider), Cindy, Peggy, Barbara, Trudy and Sarah (Siefert), Richard and Jane Rumple and Mary Jane Reynolds.

Suellen’s family had chosen to keep services private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude’s’s Children Hospital - an organization that Sue felt strongly about helping. Please click the link below to donate in Sue's memory.
