We are sad to announce the passing of Susan M. Akins of Bladensburg. She passed away at the age of 62 on October 31, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with diabetes. Susan always saw the positive in life and supported her family and friends. She could brighten a room with her smile and laughter, which will be immensely missed. Susan is proceeded in death by her father, Robert (Bob) Akins and brother, George Akins. She is survived by her mother, Catherine (Fay) Akins, her children, Lydia Akins, Andrew Akins, and his wife, Riza, and her grandchildren Alan and Eva. She is also survived by two sisters, Jeanne and Donna, brother Bobby, and many loving nieces and nephews. There will be a Viewing on November 8, 2023 from 10 am- 12 pm at Gasch’s Funeral Home in Hyattsville, MD. She will be laid to rest at 1 PM at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in the Court of the Shepard.
