Susan Ann Baldini passed away on December 6, 2025 at the New Richland Care Center in New Richland, MN, surrounded by her family.
Susan was born on July 9, 1948 to Joseph and Mildred (Adams) Valasek in Osage, Iowa. She was raised on the family farm in Osage, where she worked alongside her dad and uncles in the everyday life of a farm family. She graduated from Osage Community High School in 1966 and went on to further her education at Mankato Community College; where she would meet her future husband, David. On February 23, 1968, she was married to David Baldini in Lawton, OK. They moved back to Mankato so David could finish his education after serving in the US Army. In 1970, they moved to Waseca, where they raised their two sons. She worked at EF Jonson Co and Countryside Motors; later retiring from her position at Christensen Tire and Auto Repair.
She found joy in the simple things; playing card games (especially gin), watching the birds, taking walks, and her beloved dogs. Her garden was one of her greatest pleasures. She and David tended it with care, growing an abundance of vegetables that they shared generously with everyone. She cherished the time spent traveling with her family, especially their many fishing trips to Canada, Lake Winnibigoshish, and Red Lake; both in the summer and the winter. In their retirement years, David and Susan spent as much time together as possible, traveling and creating precious memories that brought them joy and closeness. As a woman strong in her faith, she especially loved the Advent season. She delighted in decorating her home, taking particular joy in setting out her nativity scene. She cherished how this season brought family and friends together, giving everyone a chance to pause, gather, and step away from their everyday routines.
One of her greatest accomplishments, and something she was most proud of, was being a devoted wife and mother. Watching her sons grow into successful, remarkable men was a joy she truly adored. She loved her family dearly and always made sure to support them in every way she could.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, David, of 57 ¾ years; sons, Allyne of Waseca and Aaron of Champlin; siblings, Connie Fischer of Grand Rapids, MN, Ron (Jean) Valasak of Osage, IA, Roger Valasak of Osage, IA, Joe Valasak of North Branch, MN, and Pat Newton of Florida; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Dave and Viviann Dassance, grandparents, brothers-in-law, Lonnie Fischer and Peter Baldini, sister-in-law, Carol Visher and her husband Wes Visher; nephew, Scott Visher, and many aunts and uncles.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca, MN. Susan’s family will greet guests at a visitation on Friday, December 12, 2025 at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis Steffel Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. A private interment will be at a later date at Woodville Cemetery.
A special thank you to the Mankato Mayo Hospital, Waseca Therapy Department, Rev. Kathy King from Janesville Methodist Church, the New Richland Care Center, St Croix Hospice, and all of her physical and occupational therapists for their tender care.
