Susan Bonchak Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cannon - Catavolos Funeral Home - Parma Heights on Dec. 27, 2022.
Susan Marie Bonchak, age 64, entered into eternal rest on Christmas morning, December 25, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 18,1958, to Alice Bonchak (nee: Ehrbar) and Edward Bonchak (both deceased).
Susan was the proud and loving mother of Dr. Jonathan G. Bonchak; dearest sister of Cathy (Joe) Yourkvitch, Edward (Jeannie) Bonchak Jr., Nancy (Dan Woolman) Buckley and Carol (Matthew, deceased) DiBiase.
Her deep love of family extended to nieces, Katrina Bennett, Elizabeth (Edwin) Pacheco, Natalie (Pete) Kavalecz, Vanessa Bonchak, Jocelyn (Joe) Mariano, Christina DiBiase; great-nieces Olivia Harris, Jane and Paige Kavalecz, Nicolette and Brielle Mariano; and great-nephews Anthony Harris, Edwin and Evan Pacheco, Alex Henry and Robert Bonchak.
She also leaves behind beloved friends Anne (Barron) Serna and Steve "Cubby" Wooley and her devoted pups, Angel and Mona.
Susan graduated from West Technical High School in Cleveland and went on to work with the Veteran's Hospital in Cleveland as well as serving in various positions within the local food industry. Her generous, compassionate spirit led her to become a principal caregiver for several people, including lifelong friend, Sharron DeCosta (deceased).
Possessing innate artistic skills, Susan shared her vast talents by gifting friends and family with countless creative pieces.
Renowned for her horticultural abilities, Susan's garden was always filled with a bounty of flowers, fruits and vegetables that she benevolently shared with others. At summer's end she harvested hundreds of seeds and spread them throughout her loving circle of neighbors, family and friends to be planted and enjoyed. In 2022 Susan's gardens were a featured stop within the GardenWalk of Cleveland's annual tour.
As a lover of all types of music, Susan knew hundreds of songs by heart and encouraged others to sing and dance along with her, sharing the simple joys of life.
Throughout her final hours she remained light-hearted and cheerful, lifting the spirits of those surrounding her.
With exceptional talents, an invaluable ability to fully enjoy the smallest pleasures in life, and an impassioned love for all, Susan's unique spirit will be exceedingly missed and always cherished.
Those who wish to pay tribute to Susan are invited to attend a visitation and service from
10 a.m. to 11:30am, Saturday, December 31 at

Hi Susan! Just want you to know I´m thinking of you on Christmas. I still have the beautiful Christmas card you sent from several years ago and still love it! Thank you again for being there for me in my direst need of support. I love and miss you.

Hi Susan! I just came across a beautiful Christmas card you sent me in the past with a beautiful letter inside from you. It was so lovely to see it and remembered all of the warm moments and laughs we shared together over the years. We were in each others lives for a season and a reason. Each of us, a blessing to the other. I have saved all your letters and doodle etching which I treasure. You are missed. I'll be seeing you! :)

I am so shocked to just find this out. I got to know Sue through Sharron Decosta. She was such an incredible friend to Sharron. It is hard to believe that they are now both in Heaven! Prayers for her family!

To give examples of the love and fun we shared would take a book. I am a different person, a kinder more thoughtful person, an even stronger Christian and whatever a sister would be-Sue is that to me and more. I will continue to talk to God and you daily as I pray each morning and reminisce of old time. Beautiful times. I´m so glad God placed me in your path of life and I am so blessed because of it. You´re my dearest friend, sister, confidant, sidekick, etc etc. I love you more than words can express and I can´t wait to hang out in the heavens with you someday. God had his angels surrounding you. I know that, and in ways only He can comfort us I pray for us all to remember you with a smile and many many many beautiful memories of pure love. . Til we meet again my dear friend.

It´s hard to believe my dearest friend Sue is gone from here, it seems so surreal! We remained very close friends since we were 10 yrs old. Even though we lived far apart from one another we always kept in touch & spoke often (for hours). Conversations were never boring. One of Sue´s many gifts was using humor to get people to laugh. She was a very thoughtful, caring, giving, creative, free spirited, dance like no one is watching type of person. She brought me & many others so much joy. I was blessed to have her as a close friend all these years. I will miss her greatly for the rest of my life, until we meet again on the other side.

You went on the big adventure ahead of me ,
Your letters still here with me ,
Reading them its like you standing next to me ,
Your letters and your eternal humour , they comfort me,
They spark the fierce golden flame of Godspark inside of me ,
One day il write stories about a blue jay and a woman who wanted me to set my pen free ,
I Will live passionately !

I won't cry like we promised ... .... ...to : "stay strong ".
Your life was the most "bodacious" of all , It was one of the greatest songs !
