Susan Burdette Obituary
Born November 19, 1952 in Bethesda, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph Bodine Sr. and Margaret Susan Bodine (nee Lord).
She lived most of her life in Germantown, Maryland on her husband's family dairy farm. A tireless caregiver, Susan worked as an operating room nurse and school nurse throughout her career. In retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling in their RV and exploring countries abroad. A lifelong lover of the beach and outdoors, she spent her retirement between their homes in Ocean Pines, Maryland and Word of Life community in Hudson, Florida. Susan was a Girl Scout leader, Lamaze instructor, cake decorator, crocheter, and unrivaled bargain hunter. Her home was open to all, and she was always on the move.
Susan leaves behind her children Sarah Stauder (Josh) of Darnestown, MD, Mary Beth Northen (Elijah) of Catonsville, MD, and Rebecca Ryan (Michael) of Boulder, CO. She also leaves behind her brothers Chuck (JoAnne), Richard (Trish) and Tom (Kathy) Bodine. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Elle, Luke, and Josh Stauder, Owen and Maggie Northen, and Jack and Scarlett Ryan.
Susan was preceded in death by her late husband, Roger Leon Burdette, her son, Paul Joseph Burdette, and her brother, Billy Bodine Jr,
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on November 23, 2024 with interment at Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, 8854 Tuscarora Pike, Martinsburg, WV.
Donations can be made in Susan's memory to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Though Susan and I worked together many many years ago in the Operating Room at Suburban Hospital; I never forgot this wonderful co-worker and friend. It breaks my heart to see this. She was a great nurse and I know she will be missed by many.
