Susan (Suze) Knight Burr, age 62, passed away on October 29 2025, after a short but fierce battle with cancer. She was gently and lovingly cared for by her husband, Jesse. Her son and daughter, Casey and Ally, also gathered to offer support and comfort.
Suze reminisced about her amazing childhood and the sweet memories created by her parents, Max and Melba Knight. She spoke of family reunions at the ranch, camping trips, trips to Bear Lake, Brookside families playing together and going to church together, friend’s parents who were also like parents to her, and having laughter and love surround her.
Suze was able to generate love and laughter throughout her life. Her children were her joy and she devoted her best effort to them. She wanted them to have the same sweet memories of their childhood that she experienced. Their home was filled with cousins coming to visit, playing together in the pool, breaking the pool, laughing hard, games, and endless fun. Casey and Ally also had time to stay with cousins and create the same screaming laughter at their homes. As they grew to adulthood, home was still where mom gave her best to them. She loved with her whole heart. She was their biggest fan and always supported them no matter what they were doing or trying in life. Suze was their biggest cheer-leader, no matter what.
It wasn’t long before the most perfect and amazing grandchild was born. Jackson became the most beloved, the smartest, the most fun, the most adorable, and the most loved by his grandma. Jackson filled a place in Suze’s heart that only a grandchild can fill.
Suze’s heart led her to volunteer at the food bank for many years. She became a fixture there and loved serving. She also volunteered at a local facility for children with disabilities. Her heart responded any time there were people who needed help. You could find her after every hurricane or other natural disaster, handing out much needed relief to neighbors in need.
Suze had a remarkable relationship with her nephew, Travis. She did not want to leave him but we are confident she is now his number one guardian angel and companion. They spoke every day, often many times a day. Travis loved his Aunt Suze the most and she loved him the most. When he was going through difficult and frightening open-heart surgery, she flew to Utah to be his daily companion and nurse. She was by his side to comfort and reassure him before surgery and to help him with every part of his challenging recovery. There was something about their sweet relationship that all of us treasured and valued. They needed each other. To try and describe their bond is almost impossible. They were, of all the soulmates in the world, THE truest soulmates ever.
Jesse and Suze loved riding motorcycles together when they were younger. They went through a rough crash together, ending up in the hospital with pretty severe road rash. Life also contributed its own rough road in the end as Suze faced her cancer diagnosis. Jesse was Her most devoted and attentive care taker. Suze shared her deepest heartfelt gratitude for his watchful care. At times he tried to make plans to work in his shop but he could not be away from her for very long, and plans fell away.
Suze’s life can be measured in the limitless love she offered to anyone, not just family. She is an example to all of us of what it means to be our brother’s keeper. How blessed we are to know her and to have her influence in our hearts.
Suze is survived by her husband Jesse, her son Casey and her daughter Ally, her beloved grandson Jackson, siblings Sandy Boswell, and Jay Knight. Greeting her at her passing were her parents, Max and Melba Knight, her older brothers Bobbie, Ron, and Jerry, niece Jackie, nephew Brett and her grandparents. We trust that Suze lives on, strong and watchful as ever. Until we meet again.
