Susan Carter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home on Mar. 6, 2026.
Susan J. (Glavin) Carter, also known as "Nanny", was born on October 21, 1947, and passed peacefully on Thursday, March 5th. She was pre-deceased by her husband Kenneth W. Carter. She was the beloved daughter of the late David (Joe) Glavin and Dorothy D. (Young) Glavin and best friend to her sister Dorothy "Ann" (Glavin) Lutz who pre-deceased her in 2021.

She leaves behind her loving daughter Kathleen (Creedon) Diamont, her husband Chris and her two grandchildren Zack and Ally Diamont, who brought her endless pride and joy. She is also survived by her niece, Susie Lutz-Ross and her husband Billy, and by her grand-niece Samantha Dalrymple and grand-nephew Nicco Lutz. She also leaves behind her constant companion, her granddog Archie, who is already missing her very dearly.

She is also survived by her loving stepchildren Maggie Theriault, Kenny Carter, his wife Sue and Bobby Carter, as well as her grandchildren Samantha Theriault-Gelinas her husband Colin, Shawn Theriault, Jason Theriault and Tabitha Carter and great grandchildren Eliza, Felicity and Seamus, all of whom she loved dearly.

Susan was an accountant for Caras and Shulman PC in Burlington, prior to her retirement, but her true passion was knitting. When you went to visit her, you would rarely find her without a set of knitting needles in her hands creating Christmas stockings and baby sweaters along with other beautiful items treasured by all. When not knitting, she could be found enjoying trips to the casinos, a joy she shared deeply with her late sister, Ann. Now that they are reunited, we hope they are winning big in heaven.

Susan will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and the love she poured into every stitch she knit and every life she touched. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 9 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Road, Billerica at 10 a.m. Her burial will take place at the Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Susan's name to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org
