Susan Cook Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 29, 2026.
Susan Sand Cook was born on November 4, 1961 to Ronald Emil Sand and Guinevere D. Fry Sand in Fort Morgan, CO hospital. She passed away on March 28, 2026 at East Morgan County Hospital with her family beside her.

Susan graduated from Fort Morgan high school class of 1980. In 1983 she married the love of her life, Todd Cook of Wiggins. They moved to Phoenix 15 years where she started her career and family. She worked at Blue Cross Blue Sheild and loved her job there. They had moved around that area several times, but their home was always Colorado. They decided to move back to Brush, CO in 1997 and bought a county home to raise their family in.

Susan had four grandchildren, Chayce, Kiptyn, Addison and Kaydee who were her pride and joy. She loved God and her family. She loved spending time with them making memories and cherishing every moment she could. She also loved camping, fishing, games, puzzles, baking and crafts, but most of all the relationships and connections she made with everyone. If you knew Susan, you knew a friend that would listen, love and respect you. She never met a stranger. She had many friends that were from a very young age that she cherished her whole life with. She always felt blessed to have so many amazing memories and connections.

Susan is survived by her husband, Todd Cook of Brush; her daughter, Amber Beecham; son, Chris Cook (Sarah Probasco) both of Fort Morgan; four grandchildren, Chayce and Kiptyn Beecham, Addison and Kaydee Cook; her father in law, Freddie Cook and mother in law, Joanne Cook both of Fort Morgan; brothers, Dan Sand (Kelley) of Fort Morgan, Ed Sand (Dianne) of Jackson Lake; and her sister, Cindy Henshaw (John) of Canyon City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Guin Sand; grandparents, Blanche and Cliff Ragland and grandparents, Dallas and Lois Fly from California who preceded her many years ago.

Cancer in 2022 changed her health, but not her spirit and she fought it her way and never regretted anything at all. She asked that you live your life to the fullest, love the hardest and be a solid rock for each other. Celebrate life.

That outpour of love and support that was given to her was the most remarkable blessing she felt from all of you during her journey and at the end of her last months as she started to really open up to everyone. You all filled her heart and soul. Thank you for loving her. This is a message she wanted us to share!
