Susan Hayes Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Elizabeth (Lucier) Hayes, 67, of Manchester, NH, on October 15, 2025. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on December 3, 1957, in Nashua, NH, Susan was the only daughter of the late Robert E. and Joanne E. (Bartis) Lucier. She was a loving sister to her three younger brothers, Michael, Bruce, and Keith Lucier, and a proud aunt to Michael, Kathleen, Jessica, Sean, Paige, and Elizabeth.

Susan spent her childhood years in Philadelphia but always spent her summers in Nashua, NH, helping her grandfather, John Bartis, at his ice cream business, the Dairy Freeze. She was especially close with her grandparents, John and Hazel Bartis, and Ralph and Hazel Lucier, and shared a special bond with her aunt, Bernice "Aunty Bun" (Lovejoy) Frost. Those summers were filled with cherished memories alongside her cousins Janet, Rick, Nancy, Ellen, John, and Margaret from Melrose, NY, and Robert and Brian Bartis of Hollis, NH.

Susan was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Hayes, with whom she shared 25 wonderful years in Manchester, NH. She was a devoted mother to Jeffrey B. Hayes, Keith R. Hayes (predeceased), and Ashley B. Hayes, and a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren: Dominic, Keith, Haley, Jordan, Cameron, Cayden, Colby, and Chloe. She also adored her two great-granddaughters, who brought her immense joy.

Susan will be remembered for her caring nature, her willingness to help anyone in need, and the warmth she shared with all who knew her. She loved shopping, gardening, and trips to the beach, and she especially treasured evenings spent with friends, filled with laughter and good company. In recent years, she found companionship and happiness with her partner of 20 years, Robin Jordan of Manchester, NH.

Above all, Susan's greatest joy was her family. Her generous heart, strength, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
