Susan I. Eberhardt
Dec. 5, 1954 - Dec. 10, 2023
RACINE - Susan Irene Eberhardt, 69, passed away peacefully at Oak Hill Terrace in Waukesha, WI on Sunday, December 10, 2023.
Sue was born in Racine on December 5, 1954, to Eugene and Irene (nee: Reed) Eberhardt. She was a lifelong Racine resident, graduating from Racine Lutheran High School, class of '73. Afterwards Sue was employed at Tek Products in Racine and later joined Gateway Technical College as a computer tech specialist until her retirement in 2012. Her time spent at Gateway was among the happiest of years, where she met many friends and truly enjoyed her work. Upon her retirement she dedicated her time to the loving care of her beloved parents. Sue's devout belief in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was a comfort and guiding force throughout her life.
Sue loved all outdoor activities including hiking, camping, cross-country skiing and gardening. She reveled in celebrating all holidays, especially Halloween. She volunteered annually at Ryerson Woods Conservation Area in Lake County Illinois for their educational Halloween Hikes. She also was skilled at needlepoint and knitting. Sue was loyal, hardworking, giving and extremely proud of her Swedish heritage. Her kitty companions held a special place in her heart, but most importantly Sue loved spending time with family and friends.
Sue is survived by her sisters: Charlene (George) Heckel and Alice (Brian) Zabielski; brother, Norman (Richard Ganoung) Eberhardt; niece, Jennifer (David) Thamban; nephew, Paul (Candice) Heckel and great nephews. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Sue will be held at Purath-Strand Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:30. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to an animal rescue or charity of your choice have been suggested.

Sue has been a friend since 1969. She and my sister Diane were classmates at Racine Lutheran High School. She spent a lot of time at our house and vice versa. Sue was one of Di's bridesmaids. Sue joined in at a lot of our family get togethers. She was an adopted member of our family! When our folks moved back to Wisconsin in 2019, I traveled frequently between Texas and Wisconsin. After dad was transferred to the VA Home in Union Grove, often Sue would drive my mom and me out there to visit. Dad enjoyed seeing her. We ate at various restaurants, got to Germanfest, attended a Brewers game, etc. She would tell stories from her childhood. She loved her family and heritage. I remember what loving care she provided to her dad til the day he died. She was a devoted daughter. Getting the news of her ovarian cancer a couple months ago was unreal. She had just walked with us through our dad's passing. But Sue put her trust in Jesus. Whenever we visited her, she shared her faith and encouraged us. She taught us how to die as well as how to live. God's peace and comfort to the family. Sue will be deeply missed, but we know there will be a joyful reunion in heaven.
