Mrs. Susan Gay "Susie" English, 66, of Bloxom, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 6, 1959, in Kentucky, Susie was one of five children of Harvey Guy Frost Sr. and Catherine Jane Turner Patterson. As the daughter of a father serving in the Armed Forces, Susie's childhood was spent traveling from place to place as her dad was stationed in various states. Along the way, she developed the lively, outgoing spirit and easy laugh that would endear her to everyone she met.
After graduating from high school in Snow Hill, MD, Susie worked hard throughout her life-whether waitressing, cashiering, or lending a helping hand wherever she could. She worked at many beloved local spots up and down the Shore, including Matthews Market, Stuckey's, Don's Seafood, and alongside her sister at My Sister's Place in Snow Hill. Later, she joined Blind Industries of Maryland, where she took great pride in her work crafting uniforms for members of the U.S. military before her well-earned retirement. A lifelong animal lover, she opened her heart and home to countless cats and dogs who brought her endless joy.
Of all the roles she held, Susie's favorite was being a mother and grandmother. Her children-Dave, Amy, and Mark-were the light of her life and her greatest pride. She devoted herself to caring for them, ensuring they had everything they needed (including giving her son her little blue Escort), often putting their happiness ahead of her own. She loved taking care of her babies-feeding them and making sure they were safe and had what they needed. She loved spontaneous adventures with her daughter to the beach at Cape Charles or a Jason Aldean and Kane Brown concert in Virginia Beach. Her children kept her on her toes (especially when they tried sneaking out with the car!), but she wouldn't have had it any other way.
When Susie became a grandmother, her heart only grew bigger. She adored her eight grandchildren beyond measure, filling their visits with laughter, homemade pizza, and breakfasts made with love. Summers at Grandma's house meant swimming in the pool, plenty of treats, and the kind of memories that last forever.
Known for her fun-loving personality, Susie was truly the life of every party. She loved to dance, sing karaoke, and light up a room with her laughter. Her rendition of Patsy Cline's "She's Got You" could silence a crowd-her soulful voice often moving listeners to tears.
In the 1990s, Susie met the love of her life, Dirk "Fuzzy" English, at Don's Seafood. Though they had crossed paths years before, fate brought them back together that night, and from that moment, they were inseparable. The two married on April 18, 1998, and spent the next 27 years side by side-riding their Harleys down country backroads, camping in their RV, hosting annual pig roasts, and sharing a love that balanced laughter, adventure, and deep companionship.
She is survived by her husband, Dirk "Fuzzy" English; children, Dave Davis and his wife, Vickie, of Pittsville, MD, Amy Stachowski and her husband, Jamie, of Salisbury, MD, and Mark Davis of Newark, MD; sister, Kathy Riggin and her husband, Joey, of Eden, MD; brother, Harvey Guy Frost of Newark; grandchildren, Dylan, Travis, Colton, Mark Jr., and Skye Davis, Hunter Liddle, Adrienne Arsenault, and Wyatt Stachowski; seven nieces; one nephew; and her furbaby, Jaxon, who only had eyes for the ladies. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Deborah "Debbie" Snyder and her husband, Tom, and her brother, David Frost.
Per Susie's wishes, there will be no public service. Family will gather privately to celebrate her life.
