Susan Lea Hilaman

Susan Lea Hilaman, 75, of Pembroke, GA passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Born in Elkton, MD on August 16, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Lee C. Church and Agnes Huffman Curry.
Susan dedicated over 45 years of her life as a hairdresser, building lasting relationships with her clients. Through the years, she not only created beautiful hairstyles but also provided a listening ear and kind words to those who needed them. Susan was deeply involved in her community. She served as a past president of the Elkton Chamber of Commerce for several years and was a long-time member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, where she found comfort and strength in her community. She also enjoyed drawing, writing and was an avid collector of mice figurines.
Survivors include her children, Candi Franks (Sam), Pembroke, GA, and Russell Hilaman (Wendy), Elkton, MD; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, with 2 on the way; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Robbie Hilaman Jr. and Chad Hilaman Sr.; grandchildren, Joseph Franks and Piper Franks; and brothers, Kenneth Huffman and Jerry Church.
Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Cherry Hill Methodist Cemetery, Cherry Hill, MD.
