Susan Hone

Hone, Susan 7/12/1930 - 2/13/2022 Grand Rapids Susan A. (Adams) Hone, age 91, of Grand Rapids, MI passed away on February 13, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Crystal Lake, Illinois on July 12, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Pearl (Matteson) Adams; son John Hone; brothers Theodore, Harry, Robert and wife Barbara; sister Jane and brother-in-law Marvin Shane. She is survived by her husband of 70 years Stanley B. Hone; children Sara (Craig) Williams, Juliette (Hone) Gauss, David (Karen) Hone, Tom Hone and daughter-in-law Kelley (Verbeerst) Hone; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She grew up and graduated from high school in Crystal Lake Illinois, and attended St. Anthony School of Nursing in Rockford, Illinois. As a teenager, she became an avid golfer who never believed in gimmes; "always take your putts"! After Stan retired and the kids were gone, Susan and Stan enjoyed 10 years of traveling the country in their Escaper Winnebago. But above all, she cherished spending time with family and friends and loved them all very much. The family would like to thank the aides at Harmony Hall in Porter Hills Village and the wonderful support received from Emmanuel Hospice. Visitation 10:30 am, Funeral 11:30 am, on February 26, 2022 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church 1025 3 Mile Rd. Grand Rapids, MI. Because of her love for children, Susan requested memorials go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
