Susan Brancato Jackson, 72, of Torrington, CT, passed away suddenly on August 19th, 2025, after a brief illness. She transitioned peacefully surrounded by her children. Susan was born on January 6th, 1953, to the late Randolph and Florence (Cossidente) Brancato in New Haven CT. Susan graduated from North Haven High School in 1971. She went on to earn a degree in Early Childhood Education at Southern Connecticut State University in 1975. Susan was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She lived a life of love and service to those around her. Over the course of her life, she worked with the AmeriCorp VISTA volunteers, Project Overflow, The Torrington Soup Kitchen, The Warner Theater, The Torrington Library, and the people of her local community. For years Susan worked two full-time jobs so she could provide her children the tools needed to start their lives. She extended this same love and dedication to her grandchildren. With a smile on her face and joy in her heart, she would readily sacrifice helping another in need. She is survived by: Her four children: Nathaniel Jackson (Jenn), Amoreena Schoonmaker (Bobby Willis), Seth Jackson, and Levi Jackson (Lindsay). Her nine grandchildren: Logan, Connor, Emaline, Shayla, Riley, Keira, Reid, Isabelle, and Emmy. Her four siblings: Lawrence Brancato (Rosemary), Gale Brancato (Tom Newman), David Brancato (Ann), and Robert Brancato. Services will be held at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect Street, Torrington, CT on Saturday September 6th. Calling hours will be 2-4pm with a service from 4-5pm. We invite anyone who would like to speak or has a fond memory of Susan to share with those in attendance. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Vincent House in Wayland NY or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
