Susan Lynn Johnson, 80, of Rushville, passed away at 1:40 am on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
She was born on September 6, 1945, in Beardstown, the daughter of the late Howard Dale & Virginia Maxine (Reed) Stevens. Susan was a 1963 graduate of Beardstown High School. Shortly thereafter, she married Bobby Jack Johnson on October 24, 1963, in Virginia and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2024. Together, they shared 60 years of marriage.
Susan was the manager for IGA’s bakery department in Beardstown for several years. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church of Beardstown where she played the piano for church services. Susan enjoyed cooking, reading, baking and travelling. Her family was her treasure and she loved to spend time with them.
Susan is survived by her daughter; Cara (Rick) Ham of Belize, two sons; Kevin (Michelle) Johnson of Mount Sterling & Scott (Jennifer) Johnson of Rushville, eight grandchildren; Christopher, Ryan, Tim, Dalton, Damon, Ashley, Zachary & Kendall, one great granddaughter, one great grandson and by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Susan was preceded in death by two brothers; Earl Craig Stevens & Dana Dale Stevens.
Memorial services honoring Susan’s life will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the First Southern Baptist Church of Beardstown. A luncheon will follow the services at the church. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of services. The Triplett & Wood Funeral Home of Rushville has been entrusted with the care and arrangements. Memorial contributions in memory of Susan are suggested to the Southern Baptist Church of Beardstown.
