Susan Stafford Jolliff, 75, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at the Center for Hospice Raclin House in Mishawaka.
Born on January 20, 1950, in Plainwell, Michigan, Susan was the daughter of the late Ray and Connie (Ciero) Pearson. She grew up in Michigan and graduated from Parchment High School before attending cosmetology school, where she earned her associate degree and became a nail technician. Susan's clients became like family, and over the years she worked in several salons before eventually running her own business out of her home for more than 17 years.
In 2012, she moved to Mishawaka to help with the family restaurant, where she poured the same heart and care into her customers as she did with her loved ones. Susan was also a proud member of the Michiana Twisters, where she met fellow balloon artists, shared her creativity, and delighted in her designs. Around this time, she also discovered joy in clowning-complete with costume and makeup-which perfectly matched her playful spirit.
Susan will be remembered for her fierce independence, her wicked sense of humor, and her ability to embrace the silly side of life. She famously was never shy about ruffling feathers if it meant staying true to herself. Her traditions brought joy to many, especially her legendary Christmas Chex Mix, which she made in butter-rich batches for family and friends. A talented cook and baker, Susan's kitchen creations will remain a sweet memory for those she loved.
She is survived by her daughters, Stacey (Ric) Proctor and Tammy Petersen; her grandchildren, Gage and Gavin Proctor, Chloe (Harrison) Cheal, Zac Stalnaker, Jack (Taylor) Stalnaker, and Jacob Stalnaker; and her six siblings. She was preceded in death by her twin daughters and two of her siblings.
Susan's family is grateful for the lifetime of memories she leaves behind. A private service has been held, and cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
Susan's laughter, love, and legacy will be deeply missed by all who knew her-but especially by her family, who already miss her dearly.
