Susan Kay Kreuter

Susan Kay (Benedict-Newgent) Kreuter, 71, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Briar Cliff Nursing Facility.

Susan was born on May 26, 1954 in Winamac, Indiana to the late Jack Sr and Eleanor (Ludwig) Benedict. On June 15, 2013, Susan married Raymond Leo Kreuter, Jr, he preceded her in death in 2020. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler McClurken.

Left to cherish the memory of Susan, are her children, Tommy (Aly) Newgent, Lisa Newgent, Joey Newgent, and Haleigh Newgent; grandchildren, Michael Jones, Danielle Newgent, Shelby Newgent, Colton Newgent, Steven Meredith, III, and Zoie Jones; great-grandchildren, Desmond Hunter, Madelyn & Kay Jones; brothers, Jack Benedict, Jr. and Thomas (Jeanette) Benedict; sister, Trish Austin; and her dear friend, Russ McComb.
Susan was a Class of 1972 graduate of LaSalle High School. She then worked at various Target locations, for many years, beginning back when it was named Ayr-Way. She also worked for 1st Source Bank and sold Avon. Susan was a member of PNA. She enjoyed eating popsicles and baking. Her family will always remember her creme puffs and poppy seed rolls. She loved her dogs and her childhood cat, Fluffy. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Any time spent with them brought her the most joy.

Visitation for Susan will be 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, December 5, 2025 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend, IN with a Funeral Service to begin at 2:00 pm in the Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
