Cumberland - Susan E. (Rock) Martel, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, February 13, 2025, just a few days shy of her 82nd birthday. She was the beloved wife of the late David A. Martel. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared many memories.
Born in Providence, the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Helen E. (Carlos) Rock, she resided in Pawtucket before moving to Cumberland in 1990. Susan was a proud resident of Cumberland, where she lived a life full of warmth, humor, and love.
Susan's career as a CT Scan Technologist at Toll Gate Radiology in Warwick, RI, spanned numerous years, and she retired in 2005. Her colleagues remember her professionalism, dedication, and the gentle care she extended to every patient she worked with.
Family was at the core of Susan's existence. She leaves behind a loving legacy, survived by her three children: Linda M. Dame and her husband, Timothy, Stephen M. Martel and his wife, Susanne, and Sharon A. Usher and her husband, Timothy. Susan was a proud grandmother to Sean Dame and his wife, Sara, Ryan Dame, Patrick Dame, Julianne Martel, David Martel, Timothy Usher, Jr. and his wife, Lindsay, and Kelsey Usher, and proud great-grandmother to Liam Dame, Aubrey Dame and Camden Usher. Her siblings, Patricia Bourget, Peter Rock, Barbara Marshall, and Joanne Oliver, will forever hold her memory close.
Susan was known for her great sense of humor and her love for life. Her days were often filled with the enjoyment of bridge games at Lincoln Senior Center, sun-soaked afternoons at the beach, the thrill of golf, and the joy of painting with watercolors. A devoted reader, Susan relished her daily perusal of the Providence Journal, alongside tackling Sudoku puzzles and playing cards. Above all, Susan treasured the moments spent with her family, forming bonds that time will never erase.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. followed by Services at 1 p.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, where friends and family are welcome to offer their condolences and celebrate the beautiful life Susan led.
Susan's legacy of love and laughter will continue to live in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
