Mrs. Susan Palmer age 84 of South Carthage was pronounced deceased at 5:01 p.m. Saturday afternoon September 27th at the Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage where she was admitted September 14th receiving rehabilitation for a fractured leg.

Mrs. Palmer was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. The family will hold a private memorial service and she will be interred on the family's home on Hillview Lane.

Mrs. Palmer was the daughter of the late Louis Richard Runke who died August 17, 1953 at the age of 68 and Bernice Josephine Runke Bendzick who died April 23, 1992 at the age of 80, and was born Susan Marie Runke on June 11, 1941 in Mankato in Blue Earth County, Minnesota.

Two daughters preceded Mrs. Palmer in death, Lori Ann Date-Dergarabedian and Shannon Marie Moore.

Mrs. Palmer was a 1959 graduate of Loyola Catholic School in Mankato, MN.

She furthered her career and was licensed as a registered nurse and also licensed as a Mobile Station Roaming Nurse.

In Reno, Nevada in 1971, she was united in marriage to Zane Austin Palmer who preceded her in death in March of 1984.

Before her retirement in 2005, she served as a Hospice Nurse.

After relocating to Smith County from Seattle, Washington in August of this year, she moved by card from her Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Seattle and became a member of the Kingdon Hall of Jehovah Witness in the Tanglewood Community.

She is survived by her granddaughter and caregiver, Brittany Swanson of South Carthage; a daughter, Gabrielle Lee of Carthage and a son, Brian John Date and wife Vicky of Seattle, Washington.
