Susan Rinker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A. - Westminster on Mar. 30, 2026.
Susan Rasche Rinker, 63, of Horntown, VA, formerly of Taneytown, MD, died Monday, March 23, 2026, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. Born December 13, 1962 in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Doris (Sakie) Rasche and William R. Rasche.

Sue was a graduate of Francis Scott Key High School, Class of 1980, and attended Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore, MD. She was first employed as a bookkeeper for Finch Services and then worked for many years at McDaniel College in the Development Office as a Gift Services Accounting Manager. Her most recent and beloved job was for the National Park Service in Chincoteague, VA in the visitor center.

Sue was an avid participant in the community, training for and running local races every year. She was also a passionate volunteer for the Paralyzed Veterans Golf Open, helping to raise funds for veterans adjusting to civilian life.

Sue loved to learn new things and master new skills, always planning new projects to paint, fix, or build. She also loved diving into history-through both reading about and visiting new places.

Whether she was spending time at the beach or enjoying a good snowstorm, Sue loved nature. She was a master gardener and could often be found tending to her garden on sunny Spring days. However, there is nothing that she loved more than spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her companion Jeff Garrett, children Nolan Rinker (Brittny), Nicole Nedzel (Zachary), Nadia Storey (Jordan) and Neal Rinker (fiancé Alyssa Riegel), stepdaughter Jessica Grady (Mike), siblings Teresa McAndrew (Bob), Thomas Rasche, William Rasche, Jr. (Mary), John Rasche, grandchildren Grayson, Everly, Parker, Jack, Sloane, Ayla and Jesper.

She was predeceased by her brother Robert Rasche.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 1pm to 4pm at Terra Rubra Lions Club Activities Building, 6300 Middleburg Rd., Keymar, MD 21757.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to McDaniel College or Paralyzed Veterans of America at www.pva.org.
