Susan Sullivan Obituary

Sullivan, Susan Lindgren
ALBANY - The angels guided her into heaven in the willow hour. Susan Sullivan, 71, born November 2, 1954, who was affectionally called "Swedey," by her husband, departed February 5, 2026, after a brief but nagging illness. She was the loving daughter of the late Edwin Lindgren and Margaret Austin Lindgren. She grew up in Latham and was a graduate of Shaker High.
Sue and Dan were 21 when they worked together as temp clerks for the department of labor. Sue worked over 30 years in the licensing division for the department of state, a job she enjoyed. In her early 20's Sue and Dan went cross country for seven weeks in an old van they fixed up. Seeing places as Yosemite, Redwood Forest, Grand Tetons, Sedona Arizona, Grand Canyon, Malibu muscle beach, San Francisco, Rt 1 scenic coastline, Las Vegas, most of Oregon and some of Seattle. Many boomers told similar tales, all true.
In her 30s, Sue got the home she always wanted. There were no more landlords coming at supper time. Sue loved animals, having cats and dogs at the same time. Her favorite being Tabby the tuxedo cat, and her German Shepard Star who walked her, not the other way around.
The swede's favorite singer was Engelbert Humperdinck, the king of romance. She saw him many times at the Colonie tent, focusing on getting her makeup just right prior to the show. "After the Lovin'" was her favorite song. Dan hoped when they got home there would be more lovin'. She also was a huge boxing fan, her favorite being Muhammed Ali. She loved how he talked smack and backed it up.
In her 40s, Sue got a present from heaven, her son and best friend, Cody. Having a child later in life made it even more joyous.
In her mid 50s, Sue retired and enjoyed the fruits of her labor. She went to all of her son's football and wrestling matches, and was always down in front with big sister, Peg, cheering her son and team on. Of course, the Diner afterword for supper or desert, which was standard. She also loved her summer vacations, including Wildwood crest, Virginia Beach, picnics at Saratoga, Grafton, Thatcher Park. She also loved Disney World in November, and late fall camping at Paradox Lake. She enjoyed the colors of the leaves, and enjoyed the absence of bugs even more.
In her 60s, Sue liked to take her hour walk on Whitehall Rd., grabbing at Diet Coke at Crestwood Plaza. When she arrived back home, she would do her daily Jumbo until supper was ready. She loved home cooked meals, and would always let you know "it was great, make it again."
Susan's sisters and brothers had a bond that was unbreakable. At a young age, they lost their loving mother, which was a tragedy that brought them closer together. She loved the family gatherings such as, pool parties and clam bakes at Rainy and Ed's, Christmas eves at big sister Pegs, Events and birthdays at Janie's and Paul's log home. Let's not forget big brother Gil doing carpentry work on her 100-year-old house, corny jokes included.
Although we are in a sea of grief, we know family will be our sandbags to ease the pain. In memory of Sue, give a loved one a hug, we all need one.

Sorry about your loss Dan and Cody. Susan was always a bright spirited woman. She come over to our home and laugh and make us laugh. She and I were the only ones who love brussel sprouts. So when I found out she loved them too I would make a special dish for her to take home. And put her name on it. She always seemed taken back that I would do such a thing for her. She will truly be missed.

Dan and Cody, what a beautiful way to remember Sue. I recall a couple of times she got laughing so hard she couldn´t speak. It made me smile just to see her laugh like that. That is my favorite memory of her. I am so sorry for your loss but hope her cherished memory will bring you comfort. You are both in my thoughts and prayers. Kathy

I remember very vividly my childhood years with my mom. We had a ritual where we would nub noses together everyday before school. We would watch "Arthur" together, along with many other cartoons.
My mother did not have an ounce of selfishness, and she was the friendliest mom on the planet. I will always love her dearly.

I remember very vividly my childhood years with my mom. Every day before school, we had a ritual where we would rub our noses together and say how much we loved each other. She would walk me to school everyday, and we would watch "Arthur", and other cartoons together before going to class.
My mom told me she loved me everyday, and she showed me an unmatched amount of love. She had not an ounce of selfishness, and she was the friendliest woman on the planet. I will always love her dearly.

Relation experts say opposites attract. American Indians call it paradox, meaning water running backwards. The Irish are more cynical, they believe if you put a fool on one side of the earth and another fool on the other side of the earth, they will meet up. Some just believe it's fate.
Three years ago my son asked this old sinner, "Dad, will you go to church with me?". I was reluctant to, but I did, not knowing it would have a profound impact in my life. I'm not saying I'm a born again Christian or anything like that, but it changed my life. Sorrow and sadness are a big thing with the Catholic church. I now have a better understanding and my faith has been renewed. Swedy, if you could, put a good word in for me, I need all the help I can get.
