Susan Thelen Obituary
Susan Marie Thelen, age 68, of Portland, passed away early Thursday, March 26, 2026 at University of Michigan Health Sparrow Lansing. The daughter of James Mark & Helene (Burch) Thelen, she was born on April 25, 1957, and lived most of her life in Portland.
Susan attended Lansing Community College for hotel and restaurant management. She enjoyed sewing, reading, cross stitch, and was a lover of classic rock and sitting at her kitchen table with friends and family who stopped by.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, James & Helene Thelen; and an infant brother, Mark Thelen.
Surviving are her two sisters, Rosemary Thelen of Portland and Evelyn (Leonard) Griffith; many nieces and nephews and their families; her treasured group of friends that helped her tremendously, Mary, Janet, Val and Bonnie; and her beloved dogs that accompanied her on her journey through life.
Memorial arrangements are being made and will be announced at a later date.
