Susan changed my life. I met Susan in April 2016 when I was a doctoral student completing my program and interviewing for a position at UNCO. She was so kind and showed me around campus and her generous and warm spirit made me feel at home. Susan also strongly advocated for me to be hired into my position and I know what a blessing that has been to my life. It was amazing working with her, her wisdom and collaborative nature. She was always student first and just wanted everyone to be successful while ago supporting early childhood education around the state. She created the legacy ECE program at UNCO that I had the honor of continuing to shepherd. Susan, you're dearly missed and you I cannot express enough gratitude for your impact on my life.

I will miss the joy Susan shared through her loud laughter that rang in the passageways of McKee Hall. May memories of her kindness and love nourish the family in this difficult time.

Susan's compassion for others is profound and her love is boundless. I will remember her not only as a dedicated educator while working at UNC, but also a human being who always extended love, care, and thoughtfulness to anyone she met. I will miss her. Ginny Huang, UNC

Susan taught me so much. I remember traveling to Guatemala with her where she adopted her three daughters. I remember teaching with her and going to conferences and learning so much from her.
