Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kaatz Funeral Directors - Richmond on Nov. 24, 2025.
Susan Ilene (Paling) Zammit, 68, of Shelby Township, MI, went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family as they shared her favorite hymns and Bible verses. A beloved mom and oldest of seven, she was always the "mom" and when her parents passed, she continued to provide unconditional love and support to her family.
She was born May 4, 1957, in Mt. Clemens, MI, the daughter of the late Charles and Janice Paling.
Susan always had a heart for people, ministering in so many ways. She was an incredibly hard worker, working many meaningful jobs over the years to take care of her family, but she shined most at Town Village and more recently at Meals on Wheels, where she gave her whole heart serving seniors. The joy was palpable as she talked about her congregants, and she made every day special for them. She was a Chaplain (Captain) and First Responder, where she ministered and brought encouragement to others on a daily basis. She was a woman of unwavering faith, a true prayer warrior for others, living her life as a good and faithful servant to her Lord. Her strong faith and kindness made a lasting impact on anyone that knew her. She was a blessing to anyone she met.
Her children had her heart. She was a beloved mother of George (Melanie) Zammit, Nicholas Arnold and Elizabeth Arnold. She is survived by her six siblings, Charles (Kristi) Paling, Faye (Ricky) Vinson, William (Diane) Paling, Warren (Tracy) Paling, Amy (Kevin) Robinson and Kathryn (Neal) Schatzberg. She is also survived many nieces and nephews and too many relatives and friends to count, who all loved her very much and were supportive until the very end.
She loved Jesus, her family, helping others, shoes-especially high heels!, the color red, and M&M's. Her greatest joys were worship, time with loved ones, supporting seniors, relaxing at home, and shopping. She truly embraced life to the fullest and will be so deeply missed. She cherished her many friends, the women she served through her single-parent ministry and her seniors.
