Susan Antoinette Zimmer, age 82, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Born in Bridgeport, she was the beloved daughter of the late Vincent James Vitale and Marie Susan Vitale. Susan was an X-Ray Technician in Fairfield who worked passionately up until a few years prior to her passing. A woman of many talents, Susan found joy in crafting intricate creations by hand and sharing her culinary delights with those around her. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of home cooked meals prepared with love. Her life was rooted in kindness, thoughtfulness and giving to others. Susan shared a devoted marriage with her beloved husband of 49 years, David Zimmer. Together they built a loving home filled with laughter, care, Jewish faith and enduring memories. She was a proud mother to her son Michael V. Zimmer and his wife Romy, and a doting grandmother to Zack and Ben, who brought her immense joy. The oldest of four siblings, Susan is predeceased by her brother Thomas V. Vitale (Nancy) and survived by her sister Rosemary V. Gillespie and brother Vincent J. Vitale Jr. (Margie). In honor of Susan's memory and love for nature's beauty, the family encourages planting a tree as a living tribute to her life. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, CT, 06824, with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Stratford.
