I saw Augusto every morning walking to the T - even though I walked on the opposite side of the street, we'd shout Hello! and Good morning! Good morning! to each other. He was a ray of sunshine, warming me up to face the day. His smile, good cheer, and warmth will be missed.

Augusto didn't just shepherd children to safety. He also made sure that I and my mischievous pup Buddy made it across busy Walk Hill Street. In one of our brief encounters, he told me of his deep love of family, especially for his dear wife. He claimed that was the secret of a long and happy life. I hope his family knows how much we appreciated him.

Mister Polanco, seguirás vivo en el corazón de todos los que te conocimos. Un abrazo que te alcance hasta el cielo y ojalá los angelitos te guarden dulcecitos.

Augusto was always such a bright spot in my commute in the mornings. His smile had a way of melting the stress and the hustle and bustle of Walk Hill St. I will miss his calming presence.

Our family is so sorry for your loss. Augusto brightened our day, especially my daughter's, every day when we biked by on our way to school. Warmth radiated from him no matter how cold or wet it was outside. His small acts of kindness no doubt created ripples throughout his community and beyond to make the world a better place.
