Suzanne Charlotte Stepan Coleman

Suzanne S. Coleman, 86, of Chicago, IL, later of Westchester County, New York City and Fishers Island, NY, died peacefully on November 20, 2023. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Coleman, mother of five children, grandmother of fourteen, and great-grandmother of two. Sue was the third child of Charles Edward Stepan MD and Suzanne Russell Stepan. She grew up in Chicago, IL and Corona, CA where her father was a doctor for the U.S. Navy during World War II and later Head of Pediatrics for Presbyterian-St. Lukes Hospital. She attended St. Scholastica School and Marymount College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. While raising her children, she was active in both the New York Junior League and the Garden Club of Irvington, NY. Sue was predeceased by her husband of 54 years and by two brothers, Charles Edward Stepan and James P. Stepan, and she is survived by her twin sister, Russella Stepan Travers of North Palm Beach, FL. Private burial services were held, and a mass of celebration will take place in December at St. Ignatius Church in New York City.
