HOLDEN: Suzanne "Sue" Gercken, 60, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Sue was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by love, resilience, devotion, and an unmistakable sense of humor. She was many things to many people, but above all else, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
Sue found the love of her life later in life and is survived by her loving husband of six years, David W. Gercken, whom she loved for many years before they married. Though their time together was far too short, their bond was deep and true, and Sue often spoke of David as her soulmate.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Alicia and son-in-law Jeffrey; her stepchildren Joshua and Dadra; and -her grandchildren Sadie Rose and Bryce Owen, whom they called Memaw and adored beyond words. Sue was a proud and devoted grandmother, cherishing every moment spent watching her grandchildren ride horses, play hockey, and grow into the people she so loved.
Sue is also survived by her mother, Beverly Jackson; her siblings Michael, Sheryl, Richard, and Raymond; and nieces and nephews: Keith, Adam, Megan, Caitlin, Taylar, and Jaden. She was predeceased by her father, Richard Jackson, and her brother-in-law, Frederick W. LaMonda.
Sue dedicated 42 years of her life as a CNA, caring for others with compassion, patience, and heart. To her patients, she was not just a caregiver, but a trusted friend and steady presence during difficult times.
Sue raised her daughter, Alicia, as a single mother, a role she embraced with unwavering strength, sacrifice, and determination. She poured her heart into motherhood, always putting her daughter first.
Sue was known for her spunky and stubborn streak and wicked sense of humor, Sue brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She was loyal, honest, and deeply loving.
She loved sharing this journey with her husband David, camping, sightseeing new destinations, trying new restaurants and sitting by the campfire with either an iced coffee or a margarita in hand. Sue enjoyed baking cookies and baked goods from recipes she gathered from friends throughout her life, and sharing those recipes with her daughter and grandchildren. She was a proud dance mom, a lover of Christmas, and cherished every opportunity to spend time with family.
Sue had a deep love for animals and was reunited in heaven with her beloved dogs and cats: Nikita, Eskimo, Tasha, Gizmo, Bernie, Joey, and Peanut, who brought her immense joy throughout her life.
Though her journey ended too soon, Sue's legacy of strength, compassion, humor, and unconditional love will live on through all who were blessed to know her.
Sue will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
