Suzanne Kissel, born March 5, 1940 passed at 2:45pm on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Season's Hospice Center in Naperville, IL. Born in Chicago, IL, a student at Bardwell Elementary, East Aurora Jr. High School, and East Aurora High School, Suzanne started her professional singing career at the age of 12 in Aurora, IL on WMROs "The Songs of Suzanne" show and then moved to Chicago, IL at the age of 18 where she sang on WBBM Radio in the Mel Bellaire's Show along with performing in various night clubs on Rush Street in Chicago, IL, Memphis, TN, East Dubuque and Aurora, IL. Suzanne touched many lives using her talents to teach vocal, organ and piano lessons or just support the musical needs of organizations and functions. She was the pianist and vocalist for Eastern Star Chapter #51 for more than 13 years. She taught organ lessons at Lyon & Healy Music Store and Swalley Music House, was the Youth Choir Director at 4th Street Methodist Church in Aurora, IL, Choir Director at Barksdale Elementary in Conyers, GA and was a vocal and piano teacher at her son's music store, Excel Music in North Aurora, IL. Suzanne was preceded by her parents, Carlton and Ruth Abbott and her sister, Nancy Abbott. She is survived by her adoring husband, Ron Kissel; two loving children, Jeff and Stacey Kissel; her brother, Bill Abbott (Rockwall, TX); her sister, Sally Byro (Sandwich, IL); 9 nephews and nieces and 13 great nephews and nieces. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. We will love and remember her forever. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 4 PM ? 8 PM at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora, IL 60506. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the chapel followed by a graveside service at Lincoln Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the Kissel family requests that donations be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital via phone or mail.
