Suzanne Lambright

AVILLA - Suzanne Carolyn Lambright, age 88, of Avilla, passed away on Nov. 25, 2025, at the age of 88 years.

Suzanne was born on Feb. 21, 1937, to the late Andrew and Louise (Vanderbosh) Pfefferkorn in Ashley.

Suzanne grew up in Ashley. She was a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School in Garrett. Upon graduation, she attended Wayne Beauty School, Fort Wayne, where she went on to pursue and receive her cosmetology beautician license in 1959.

At completion of cosmetology school, Suzanne established the Hen House Beauty Salon," which started a rewarding, 55-plus years of relationships with countless loyal customers and friends throughout northeastern Indiana area, many in which she would follow on and visit at nursing homes when they were not able to come to the shop. She was a pioneer in the field and was one of the first cosmetologists in the area to introduce "electrolysis" treatments for facial hair removal.

Suzanne was also co-owner and co-operator of the Hotel Gill and Blue Room Lounge in Ligonier, and the Spaghetti Bowl in Fort Wayne.

Suzanne had many talents that led to numerous hobbies including hand drawings, oil painting, and water coloring. In her last years, following a stroke that left her right side paralyzed, she became an inspiration and amazed countless residents and staff members at Presence Sacred Heart. She displayed her commitment and determination to be self-sufficient by enthusiastically engaging in therapy and exercise every day. Suzanne was a devout Catholic and a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Ligonier.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Edward Halferty, Elmer Lambright and Walter Rex; son, Patrick Halferty; and siblings, Stella Royal, Carl Pfefferkorn, "Chub" Pfefferkorn, Andrew Pfefferkorn, Alred Pfefferkorn, Mildred Miller, Ralph Pfefferkorn and Leo Phefferkorn.

Suzanne is survived by her sons, Michael Halferty of Auburn and Scott Lambright (Ginny) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; daughter, Tamara Halferty (Brian Braden) of Kimmell; stepsons Michael Rex (Solange) of Boston, Massachusetts, and Douglas (Leslie) Rex of Fishers; stepdaughters Cynthia Rex of Bloomington, and Jennifer (Bob) Anderson of Fort Wayne; many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Thomas Nobie officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, West C.R. 300N, Albion.
