Suzanne MacDonald Primeau Obituary

Suzanne "Suzie" MacDonald Primeau passed away Oct. 9, 2025, at the age of 79. She was from Butler, Pa., and graduated from Moon Township High School in 1964.
After graduation she worked for her parents, Jack and Helen MacDonald (both deceased), training, teaching and showing horses. Suzie was an accomplished equestrian, earning numerous championships throughout her career. She was also a talented seamstress, once designing and creating a full Arabian horse costume by hand.
Her love of animals was a lifelong passion - whether caring for birds, adopting feral cats or even befriending neighborhood squirrels. Suzie's compassion for all creatures was evident in everything she did. She often traveled by plane or car from Florida to Pennsylvania or New Jersey to help her sisters with their horses. Her connection to family and animals never waned.
Professionally, Suzie worked for many years in the medical field as a unit secretary at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Later, after relocating to Clearwater, Fla., she continued her career at Mease Dunedin Hospital, Northside Hospital and Mease Countryside Hospital. While living and working in the Clearwater area, Suzie met and married Gary Primeau, originally from Lowell, Mass. They shared 26 years wonderful years together.
Suzie is survived by her husband, Gary Primeau, of Clearwater, Fla.; her sisters, Betsy MacDonald Cotter and husband, Frank, of Millstone, N.J., and Jacqueline P. MacDonald, of Renfrew. She was a beloved aunt to Robyn Fera Makowski, of Chatham, N.J., and Caryn McKay and husband, Sean, of Pittstown, N.J. Suzie was also a cherished great-aunt to Fera, Ainsley, Gunnar and Seamus McKay, Rhys, Avery and Harper Makowski.
MACDONALD PRIMEAU - A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Suzanne "Suzie" MacDonald Primeau, who died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Suzie's name to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA.

Michele and I were saddened to learn of Suzie's passing. We fondly remember her as a very strong person extremely dedicated to family and friends. We regret that we lost touch with Gary and her over the years. May all of you find the strength to endure during these trying times.

Susie was part of an amazing family. She, her mom and dad and both her sisters gave riding lessons to our three daughters. I credit Susie and her family for helping make our daughters not only great equestrians but also great women by their leadership and example. Much thanks and love to Susie.
