Suzanne Denham Murphree

Clarksdale, MS.

Suzanne Murphree, a beloved teacher and devoted matriarch of our family passed away

peacefully, at her home on Wednesday July 23rd, 2025, leaving behind a rich legacy of

love and selflessness. For many years, Suzanne dedicated her life to her students at

George H. Oliver Elementary, where her passion for teaching and commitment to

nurturing young minds transformed the lives of countless children. She was not just a

teacher; she was a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to both her students and fellow

teachers.

Suzanne's heart knew no bounds when it came to caring for those around her. She

invested her time and energy in supporting her family with love and giving by always

putting their needs first and offering a shoulder to lean on. Her unwavering support

created a strong foundation for her loved ones, who will forever cherish her kindness

and guidance.

After she was introduced to her first grandchild Suzanne was now known as Nana.

Nana adored her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy came from witnessing

their achievements and sharing in their lives, always encouraging them to dream big

and reach for the stars. Family gatherings were filled with laughter and warmth, as Nana

created a home where love flourished.

As we remember Nana, we celebrate a life lived fully-one marked by devotion to

education, tireless care for family, and an unending love for her children and

grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

May her legacy of love and giving continue to inspire us all.

Suzanne is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jesse Murphree of Clarksdale, MS; son Michael Murphree of Lurand, MS; daughter Mary Margaret (Steve) Mason of Jasper, AL; brothers Ken Denham of Clarksdale, MS, Taylor Denham of Southaven, MS; sister Dixie (Donald) Bennett of Clarksdale, MS; four grandchildren Katelyn Paschal, Hayden Murphree, Garrett Mason, Anna Taylor Mason; three great-grandchildren.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents Floyd & Margaret Taylor Denham.
