Women Veterans of Louisiana extend our condolences to the friends and family of Mrs. Perret. We salute her courage and dedication to our country by her choice of joining the U.S. Navy. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Presented in Memory Of
Suzanne Benton Perret
United States Navy
Patriotic and Loyal to the red, white, and blue
Courageously and unselfishly they served
To keep this land of ours free
She is A Veteran
A life, family, and friends sacrificed
A volunteer always, never drafted
Serving in distant lands or on the home front
She is A Veteran
In foxholes, under the cover of fire, or in peace
Sometimes forgotten or overlooked
Sometimes resented, segregated, and bullied
She is A Veteran
Quietly serving sometimes their only honor
Proud, Gracious, and Compassionate
Some gave all, some were captured
She is A Veteran
No more, no less, they served the same
A final salute rendered on this hallowed day
To a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a wife, a mother
To A Veteran

On behalf of Louisiana Women Veterans, we would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family of Ms. Suzanne Benton Perret, U.S. Navy veteran. We salute her for her military service and honor her with this poem:
She is a woman veteran
Whose service was true
She proudly served
The Red, White and Blue
She gave a part of her life
So others could be free
And without any hesitation
She joined unselfishly
She did her job well
With Honor and Pride
And served her great country
With the men alongside
We're proud today to know
That although she is gone
She goes on to glory
After a job "well done!"
And so, "Our Dear Sister"
We salute you today
A special sailor laid to rest
In this quiet, solemn way.
