Suzanne VEDDER

Sue's family requests that memorial donations be directed to the American Diabetes Association. Suzanne (Willis) Vedder, the daughter of Harold and Pearl (Frederick) Willis, was born June 6, 1928, in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away, Saturday, May 9, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 80 years. She graduated from North High in Des Moines and then attended Northern State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On June 26, 1949, Sue was united in marriage to Frank Vedder in Des Moines. They made their home in Estherville and raised three sons. After her family was raised, she worked at the Iowa Lakes Community College Book Store and later worked at the Outlet Store. In addition to keeping busy raising her children, she had many hobbies and interests. These included sewing, knitting, quilting, bridge and traveling, including two trips to Europe. Throughout her life, Sue was known for her kindness and compassion towards everyone. Her gentleness, grace and positive spirit will be greatly missed. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville. Grateful for having shared Sue's life are her husband, Frank of Estherville; sons, Greg Vedder and his wife, Brenda and Blaine Vedder; step-grandchildren, Jill Wilson and Andrea Kist; all of Minneapolis, Minnesota sister, Donelle Leary of Des Moines; many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Verlyn Vedder and his wife, Dorothy of Estherville; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Orr and her husband, Bob of Rock Rapids, Iowa.
