With deep sorrow to the Demsky family.
I worked with Sy at Mount Sinai Narcotic Rehabilitation Center for 30 years until the day it closed. The clinic was like family.
My condolence´s.

My sincere condolences to the Demsky family on this devastating loss. Sy was a giant in the field of addiction medicine and patient advocacy. I have known him for over 50 years and consider him
to be a mentor. He never forgot where he came from and was accessible to one and all. When he reached out to you, you listened. He had a "joie de vivre" that was infectious and easy to work with. And he never sat on his significant accomplishments and contributions. He always had that "hunger" to do more even into his 90s. Witness the masterpiece of advocacy he created in
"Stop Stigma Now" after Mount Sinai closed the renown Methadone treatment program he directed for many years. His accomplishments are too numerous to list but suffice it to say that the needs of the patient was his highest priority.
Travel well, dear brother! See you on the other side!
