Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral HomeMrs. Sybil Yarbrough Brown, 85, of LaGrange, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Brown was born February 6, 1940, in Troup County, daughter of the late Pete and Gladys Railey Yarbrough. A 1958 graduate of LaGrange High School, she was the wife of the late Rev. Dr. Jimmy Brown and served as a pastor’s wife as she and her husband served churches in Cobb, Paulding, Carroll, and Troup Counties. She had made her home in LaGrange for the past 20 years and was a member of Dunson Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Catherine Pike and her husband Jeff Pike of Dallas. Paula Gorman and her husband Bart Gorman of LaGrange; and Mark Brown of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Amanda, Christen, Joshua, Elijah, Elissa, Evan; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Shelby, Jimmy, Briar; a great-great-granddaughter, Amirah; and sister, Becky Snipes and her husband Rob Snipes of Acworth. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her sons, Jimmy R. Brown, Jr. and Chris A. Brown; brothers, Charles, Bill, Steve, Gerald; and sister, Diane.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 15, at Dunson Baptist Church in LaGrange. The Reverend Kenneth Cole will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at Dunson Baptist Church.
Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Camp Quest, in care of Dunson Baptist Church, 5 Barnard Ave., LaGrange, GA 30241.
