Sybil Cooper Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 1, 2025.
HONEYVILLE – Sybil M. Cooper, 94, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 2025. Sybil was born on July 19, 1931, in East Braintree, Vermont, to Thomas and Blanche Jarvis, the fifth of nine children.

Sybil married Frank Cooper on October 1, 1948, in Rutland, Vermont. They joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 9, 1957, at Sharon, Vermont. Shortly thereafter the family traveled West leaving all loved ones behind, were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on August 28, 1959, and eventually made their forever home in Honeyville. They had three children: Gene, Diana, and Peter.

Sybil's passion in life has been doing genealogy work; she has spent countless hours at genealogy libraries and on the computer and has a loft full of documents and pictures to prove it. She has willingly helped others in pursuing their family lineage along the way. She loved her family and was especially proud of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, taking time for more than 30 years planning annual trips to the Oregon coast and providing for all the family to stay at a large beach house together.

Sybil loved the outdoors and adventures, one of such adventures was taking her two grandkids and their cousin to the top of the Honeyville mountain at the age of 68. Some may remember how that adventure turned out but she is now legendary in the Cooper family, as well as the Search and Rescue department in Box Elder County. She traveled to Vermont and back on a motorcycle with Frank soon after he retired. She loved birds, the outdoors, and serving in many capacities in the church, and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

Sybil is survived by children Gene (Lisa) Cooper, Anacortes, WA; Diana (Robert) Taylor, Riverdale, UT; Peter (Suzanne) Cooper, Kaysville, UT; brother, Alfred (Cynthia) Jarvis of Randolph, VT; sisters-in-law Shirley Cooper, Murray, UT and Virginia Cooper, Auburn, ME. She leaves 10 grandchildren: Sasha (John) Woodard; Coyte (Brandy) Cooper; Matthew (Angie) Cooper; Nathan Taylor; Risa (Rob) Taylor; Tessa (Jeremy) Brodis; Cameron Cooper; Tyson (Emily) Cooper; Desiree (Kyle) Winter; Taylor (Nick) Sanchez; 16 great-grandchildren: Stevie Woodard, Carter and Mya Cooper, Kinsley Cooper, Austin Gronski, Bran and Quinn Brodis, Jaxon, Logan, and Lydia Cooper, Karson Mitchell, Kole, Luke, and Brooklynn Winter, Micah and Greyson Sanchez, and one more on the way.

A Viewing will be held prior to funeral services on 12 December 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Honeyville 1st Ward Chapel, 2620 W 6930 N, Honeyville, UT. Funeral services will start at 11:00.

Interment will be in the Honeyville Cemetery.
