Sybl Lee Acree, 90, of Lebanon, died February 17, 2026 at the Oregon Veterans Home in Lebanon, Oregon.

Sybl was born March 22, 1935 in Sayre, Oklahoma the daughter of George and Annie (Hawkin) Acree.

Syble worked as a procurement clerk before entering the United States Marine Corps in January 1954. She was 19 years old.

Sybl earned the rank of Sargent and was stationed at Treasure Island, San Francisco, California. She worked in a specialized role responsible for managing and operating Marine Corps Community Services, providing goods and services to fellow Marines and their families. For her honorable service Sybl was awarded the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Following her time in the military, she went to college in California, becoming a teacher and working at a juvenile detention center. Sybl loved helping people of all ages and was a big supporter of the Women's Marine Club in California as well as the Magicians of the Magic Castle Club in Los Angles.

She loved to travel, once a year she would go on a road trip from Riverside, CA to Maine, with both of her dogs and cats finding a different route each time.

During her time at the Veterans Home she loved to talk and share stories about her time in the service. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Sounds like Sybl was a great human-being. Sacrificing for others in both the USMC and in a juvenile detention center. Thank you for your service to both the Corps and children.

Sincerely,
A United States Marine and retired Juvenile Probation Officer.
