Mrs. Syble Ann Connell Carter, 58, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at her residence on East Highland Drive. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Aubie Clayton Connell, Sr. and Martha Ann Davis Counts. She was a 1969 graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Carter was formerly employed by Weather Tamer then later became an Avon Representative and was a member of the Rose Circle of Avon. She and her husband owned and operated Southern Sales. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan. Mrs. Carter attended Northside Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, George Carter of Columbia; daughter Kelly (Michael) Woodard of Mt. Pleasant; son, Jimmy (Stephanie) Palmer of Culleoka; step-son, Stephen Carter of Nashville; five grandchildren, Amber Shipp, Hallie Shipp, Emma Claire Woodard, Will Palmer, Megan Palmer; three step-grandchildren, Dalton Woodard, Peyton Woodard, Alexus Woodard; two sisters, Phyllis (David) Parrish, Becky Connell both of Columbia; two brothers, Addym Joseph Connell, Stephen Ray (Carol) Connell both of Columbia; two nephews, Paul Parrish, Brandon Connell; niece, Jennifer Hayes; two aunts, Doris (Bill) Alderson of Santa Fe, Louise (Jimmy) Ragan of Lewisburg; uncle, James (Juanita) Davis of Columbia; best friend, Mildred Morton Lovett; special friend, Bobbie Lovett; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Baby Connell, Clayton Connell and Terry Connell. Pallbearers will be Dalton Woodard, Will Palmer, Bill Carter, Joe Carter, Wendell Davis and Jimmy Parrish. Honorary pallbearers will be Avon Representatives.
