I met Syd in Toronto a few years ago and his seminar as well as when he was one of four speakers were both amazing. He helped unlock the writer in me and his books are golden to me. I am glad to have met him and have taken inspiration. Syd if I ever get a script optioned I will have you to thank!

This is a sad day for Hollywood and global recipients of stories everywhere, which is everyone. As a former studio executive in Hollywood turned produced screenwriter and published author--it was and is always Syd Field's work which permeates the foundations of visual storytelling for the screen. His books remain on my shelf with their words of wisdom and as symbols of "can do" inspiration. This is a sad day and he was too young, yet what a powerful legacy he leaves in his wake to be felt and revered for generations.

I only had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Field once, but it was one of the most enlightening conversations I've ever had on the subject of writing and will always be one my favorite memories. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and I share in their loss--he was truly one of my heroes.
