Sydney Shearing Obituary
Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late George C. Shearing and Clara A. (Goodrum) Shearing.
At the young age of 17 Syd, enlisted in the U.S. Navy, he served 8 years in the Navy during both the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Syd was formerly employed with the Easton School Department as a Maintenance Superintendent for 30 years. He also owned and operated "Mr. Syd's"a cleaning service which he operated for 30 plus years.
He enjoyed fishing, dancing, roller skating and gardening. His most enjoyment came with spending time with his wife and their beloved dog Peaches. Syd took great pride in family, yard and home.
Besides his wife Jean, he is survived by his 4 children, Bonnie J. Shearing of Rockland, Scott R. Shearing and his wife Donna of Brockton, Russell S. Shearing and his wife Cindy of Pennsylvania and April Sabia and her husband Joseph of Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren, Sydney, Abigail, Justin, Eric, Nicholas and Tarah. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Syd was a twin of his late sister Sylvia Vecere as well as the brother of the late Robert, Lester, Clifford, Ronald Shearing, Gloria Nawrocki, Irene Moriscano,and Stella Shearing.
His funeral will be held from the Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington St. (Rte. 138) Easton on Thursday, November 6th at 10:00am. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. Interment will follow with military honors at the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne.
Visiting hours will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, November 5th from 4:00 to 7:00pm. All family and friends are invited to attend.
In memory of Syd donations in his name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 82, P.O. Box 229, Marlborough, MA 01752 or to the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts, 1300 W. Elm St. Ext, Brockton, MA 02301.
